Höhlen für die Zucht der Hypancistrus Zebra sollten einem Innendurchmesser von ca 2,5cm -3,5cm und bis ca 12cm Länge haben.
Wichtig hier bei ist auch das die Höhlen einseitig geöffnet sind.

Höhle am besten leicht schräg in den Bodengrund stellen (hinten tiefer), damit beim Schlupf keine Larve flöten geht.
Höhlen so platzieren, dass wenig Licht aber gut Strömung reinkommt.

Für Jungtiere in einem Aufzucht Becken sollten beidseitig geöffnete Höhlen gewählt werden,
damit diese bei Streiterein auch aus der Höhle kommen.

Sehr gern von Weibchen und Jungtieren angenommen: Höhlen in 'Döner-Form' mit Platz für mehrere Tiere. Zusätzlich Wurzelholz.
